The principals at Kahuku High-Intermediate, Kahuku Elementary, Hauʻula Elementary and Kaʻaʻawa Elementary are excited about having the resources to support student learning during non-school hours. Mahalo to KEAC for partnering with the Castle Complex grant writers and being the “Advisory Council” for this grant. The Kahuku Grant Proposal was awarded $1.4 Million in February 2016
• Year 1: April 2016, programs sprouted at Kahuku High and Intermediate and Kaaawa Elementary. In June Hauula’s Summer Session cultivated and serviced 47 students with a focus on Reading and Math.
• Year 2: October 2016, all 4 sites (Hauula, Kaaawa, Kahuku El, and Kahuku High and Intermediate) cultivated and implemented academic and enriching programs.
There were a total of 43 programs by April 2017.
• Year 3: We begin with Summer Sessions at all 4 sites and a transitional program for 7th graders entering Kahuku High & Inter.
